New pandemic writing at LARB!

I have a new essay about being 7 months pregnant as the COVID-19 pandemic begun, from initial scoffing and skepticism to a livestreamed family funeral, to a potentially life-threatening pregnancy complication, and then a small moment of hope from a near-dead tomato plant. You can check it out at the Los Angeles Review of Books!

I kept a detailed journal of my internal shift from skepticism to panic and the small external shifts in daily life as the pandemic begin to make its way down from Seattle toward us. When I wrote this piece, I wanted to write something that didn’t tell the reader what they might be feeling or how they should be feeling,b ut instead what it’s like to live in uncertainty.
